DG 5 begins a wider exploration into art from Easter Europe. In addition to the return of Uszula Kozioł, Anna Frailich (Between Dawn and the Wind), dubbed the best Polish poetess of her generation makes her first contribution to The Dirty Goat. A series of poems by four Lithuanian writers offers a glimpse into the world of this former Soviet republic before and after the fall of the iron curtain. Czech artists Jakub Kalousek and Richard Konvicka have a dozen paintings and drawings which accompany the poems of eleven of their Czech compatriots. Prose and poetry from six Hungarian artists completes this Eastern European exploration.

Prose, visual art and poetry from Argentina, Chile, Spain and the United States are also included in this issue.
